Welcome to the website of CMI Support Centre, an electronic network
for supporting teachers using Chinese as the Medium of Instruction
(CMI) in Hong Kong. Following Hong Kong Education Department's
Firm Guidance on Medium of Instruction issued in early 1997, the
majority of secondary schools in Hong Kong switched from English
to Chinese as the medium of instruction starting from September
1998. To support the newly switched CMI teachers in the aspects
of language and teaching innovations to cope with the change, the
CMI Support Centre was set up in September 1998 by the Department
of Curriculum Studies of the University of Hong Kong. The Centre
was sponsored by the Standing Committee On Language Education And
Research (SCOLAR) from 1998 to 2000 and is now sponsored by Quality
Education Fund (QEF). CMI Network is one of the significant output
of the Centre to serve CMI teachers.
